Shinyu sits right on the shore of Lake Suwa and draws from its own spring, Bisui Gensen (美翠源泉), which gives the water a faint jade tint and leaves skin noticeably smooth. The main bathhouse was renovated in 2022 into a full-tile Art Deco hall, its ironwork windows a deliberate nod to the historic Katakura-kan (片倉館) next door. There is no open-air rotenburo, but one of the baths opens to the outside air. Three private baths are available for groups or families, including a barrier-free room with a wheelchair-accessible lift tub. Guests who want lake views from the water can book the Miko no Shizuku (美湖の雫) room-onsen suites added in 2022.
