About

Hotel Grand Toya sits on the shore of Lake Toya, in the Toyako Onsen hot-spring town. The communal bath has an indoor bath plus a granite-built rotenburo, sauna, and jet bath, with three tubs at different temperatures (hot, warm, and skin-temperature) so bathers can pick what suits them. The water is faintly salty and smooth on the skin, kept flowing fresh from the source. Day-use bathing is available too. Rooms, Japanese and Western style, are plain, and many look straight out over the lake, which is what guests praise most. The building has some age to it: reviews often call it old-fashioned but clean. It's a straightforward lakeside stay where the draw is the view and the price rather than polish.

ホテルグランドトーヤ An old but clean hotel at a reasonable price. Has an onsen with several baths at different temperatures from 37 to 41 and a small outdoor bath. Near the lake but no lake view from the onsen. A good option if you want to stay cheaply and run around doing higaeri at nearby hotels.
