9. Ryokan Wakaba, Kurokawa Onsen Visited for higaeri. Located not far from the village center. Usually higaeri is available from 8:30 to 10:00 and 11:30 to 21:00, occasionally closed on a weekday. Included in the Kurokawa tegata. There are two private baths for 2200 yen, also available for higaeri (didn't try them). The ryokan has their own branded towels. Staff is very friendly and communicative. The outdoor bath is partly in stone with a view of trees, ryokan buildings, and from certain angles the river. The bath is shallow. There's a remote area under a roof with very shallow water. Water is clear, temperature around 40. The indoor bath has clear water, temperature around 40. The air inside is pleasant. Another good example of an onsen in Kurokawa.

Day-use is available, included in the pass. Indoor bath with exit to an additional outdoor bath. Heavy steam visually in the indoor bath. The water is colorless, no smell. Medium water temperature. Breathing in the indoor bath is really pleasant. The indoor design is slightly old-school. The outdoor bath has a spot with a small roof where the water is shallow. Small towels sold for 200 yen. Overall solid.
