A private source serving Kurokawa Onsen Ryokan Wakaba. Hot at 70.1 °C (one of Japan's hotter wellheads) and weakly acidic at pH 3.7, yet the dissolved-solids load is light enough at 0.67 g/kg that the cert classes it as a simple thermal spring. Sulfate dominates the anion side at roughly 64 mval percent and a faint hydrogen sulfide note rides on the surface. A generous 181.9 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards.

9. Ryokan Wakaba, Kurokawa Onsen ★★ Visited for higaeri (day-use), located not far from the village center. Usually, higaeri is available from 8:30 to 10:00 and from 11:30 to 21:00, rarely closed during the week. It is part of the Kurokawa tag. There are two private baths for 2200 yen each, also available for higaeri (did not use them). The ryokan has its own branded towels. The staff are very pleasant and approachable. The outdoor bath is partially made of stone with views of trees, the ryokan buildings, and from certain angles, the river. The bath is shallow. There is a remote area under a roof where the water is shallow. The water is clear, temperature around 40°C. The indoor bath has clear water, temperature about 40°C. The air inside is comfortable. Another good example of an onsen in Kurokawa. 16.01.2025
