One 2025 review reports the room open-air bath smelled of chlorine and called the water quality merely average (not source-fed/kakenagashi) — the site's own analysis table confirms genuine mineral spring water; kept the site's ONSEN_WATER=YES, chlorine/circulation concern noted here only.

About

Every one of the six rooms at this small ryokan has its own open-air onsen bath built in, so a soak is never more than a few steps away. The ryokan also keeps two shared baths, a wood-and-stone indoor bath and a rougher rock rotenburo, and either one can be reserved as a private bath at check-in, free of charge, in roughly 40-minute turns. The water runs clear and colorless, smooth on the skin. Fujiya sits back from the main road through Shiobara Onsen, behind open fields, a single-story house that appears quietly with the forest at its back. It is a small, family-run place: the owners still tend a welcome garden they planted by hand and have kept for three decades.
