Hoshifuruyado Seian is a small ryokan on a quiet, forested hillside a short walk from Kinrinko, in Yufuin's ryokan quarter. It has just four rooms, and each one opens onto its own private outdoor bath rather than a shared bathhouse, so bathing there is only for your own party. The spring water comes in hot and is brought down to a comfortable soaking temperature, kept flowing fresh, and it leaves the skin feeling smooth. Most rooms have only that outdoor tub, though one room type adds an indoor bath as well. Dinner is built around a shabu-shabu hot pot cooked by the owner, with a simple Japanese breakfast the next morning.
