Day Use

Yes
10:00–16:00

Day-use reception runs 10:00 to 14:00, and you can stay in the baths until 16:00. The mixed-bathing Sumi-no-yu turns women-only from 14:00 to 15:00. The baths are occasionally closed without notice for operational reasons.

¥1,000

Adult day-use entry is 1,000 yen, child (age 3 to 15) 500 yen, with no meal included. All eight baths, including the free-use private Fuji-no-yu, are open to day visitors. A separate reservation-only day-rest plan (2 or more guests, 900 yen per adult plus a flat 5,000-yen room fee, extendable at 1,100 yen an hour) lets you bring your own food.

Capabilities

Private BathYes

Private bath available for day-use visitors or hotel guests to reserve

Fuji-no-yu is a free-use private/family bath, no reservation or fee required (occupy sign flipped to 'in use'); FAQ confirms it locks from inside and limits use to ~30 min per group.

Room OnsenNo

Private onsen bath in guest rooms, for overnight guests only

Guest room amenity list has no private bath; all bathing takes place at the shared eight baths.

Mixed BathingYes

Shared bathing area for all genders

Policies & Services

KidsYes

Welcomes children and families

Child and infant pricing tiers are published for both stays and day-use, implying children are welcome; no explicit age-restriction statement found.

DiningNo

Restaurant or dining open to visitors (not just hotel meal plans)

Meals are served in-room to overnight guests only; the day-use bathing plans explicitly include no meal (食事なし), so there is no restaurant open to day visitors.

WashingYes

Shower, wash stations, soap and shampoo provided

Body soap is provided at the wash stations but shampoo/conditioner is not (bring your own); a 2026 review adds there is no shower, only plain hot/fresh water taps (not onsen water) for rinsing.

TowelsYes

Towels available to rent or borrow

Bath-towel rental exists for overnight guests but costs extra, so the site encourages bringing your own; separately, day-use bathers are told outright to bring their own towel, bath towel, and hair-wash products (site/charge.md: タオル、バスタオル、洗髪用品はご持参ください).

About

The headline here is the "Sumi no Yu", a bath coloured jet black by iron-rich sulfur water, one of the few genuinely black springs in Japan. Depending on the weather and season the same water can shift through milky white, grey, and pale green, which regulars call the "five-colour bath". Other pools on the property run the usual sulfurous cloudy white. The whole place has a deep-country feel, set in a narrow valley on the original Shiobara spring site.
