Sogoyu is Ikaho's blended source, and it reaches the bath as a calcium-led sulfate spring with bicarbonate softness layered in and a salty chloride edge. Moderately mineralized at 1,180 mg/kg, it has noticeable body without feeling heavy, and a generous 181 mg/kg of metasilicic acid puts it squarely in Japan's beauty-water family — the kind of silica film that leaves skin feeling smoother afterwards. At the spout the water is colorless and clear, carrying just a few flecks of brown suspended matter. The posted bathing indications run to neuralgia, muscle and joint pain, stiff joints, cuts and cold sensitivity; the wooden sign at the baths states the rotenburo is fed 100 percent free-flowing source water, arriving at 43.5 °C.

784. Ikaho Outdoor Bath, Ikaho Onsen, Gunma ★★ Onsen for ¥600. Opening hours are listed as 10:00 to 18:00 (October to March) and 09:00 to 18:00 (April to September), the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month are closed (except August). They give out a Loget card for Ikaho Onsen. The characters from the anime Yama no Susume visited it in the third season. There is no shower, soap, or shampoo. The changing room is outside. The bath photo from the internet matches only partly, the water was a little more transparent, and the water turbidity was lower in density. The bath is divided into two sections. The water is a cloudy yellow-brown, with low turbidity density, much closer to clear. In terms of temperature, one bath is 39, the other is 42. A nice, heartfelt onsen, recommended for a visit. 12.01.2026

Ikaho rotenburo. 100% kakenagashi. Day-use 450 yen, very iron-rich water, beautiful rotenburo, two baths with warm and hot water. No shower, no shampoo, changing room is outdoors. Everything is very spartan and authentic. Definitely recommended in Ikaho.
