About

A hot spring full of a secret atmosphere located beyond a bamboo grove in the Myoban Onsen area. It is like a secret base. There are three family baths in total. One is located about 300 meters after walking through the bamboo grove. A small hut standing covered by bamboo is the family bath. The expression "hidden hot spring" and "remote area" fits perfectly. The bathtub is made of stone and was completed in Meiji 4 (1871). It has been renovated while retaining the appearance of that time. On the vast site of about 400 tsubo, there are seven types of baths including a large public bath, foot bath, mud bath, and steam bath. Except for the family baths, bathing is done wearing swimsuits. In spring, you can also dig bamboo shoots yourself and steam them in the hell steam or eat them. It is a hot spring facility that excites the adventurous spirit of both children and adults. Since it is in a wild bamboo grove, business ends when the sun sets. Please go bathing with plenty of time.

149. Yuyama no Sato Onsen, Beppu A unique onsen. Essentially a set of mixed-gender baths in the forest, reached by walking through a bamboo grove (the walk takes about 3-4 minutes at a very fast pace, or a leisurely 10 minutes while enjoying the scenery). Entry 600 yen, 100 for a disposable bathing garment, 150 for a bottle of tea. After passing through the grove, you arrive at a spot with several scattered changing rooms and various baths and tubs. The baths vary - small, temperatures mostly between warm and hot, water colors vary. Map and photos of the baths attached. The highlight is the cold plunge pools - one is a tub and the other is a waterfall. There's also an utaseyu (falling water bath). A must-visit. Also great for those looking for a mixed-gender onsen with bathing garments.
