A calcium- and sodium-led sulfate spring, settled and mineral-rich with noticeable body. At pH 8.6 it is alkaline, leaving a slippery, soft feel on the skin that places it in Japan's beauty-water family. It carries 57 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, enough for a thin silica film that smooths the skin. It is served as untreated source flow — no dilution, heating, recirculation, or disinfection.

247. Robatakan, Matsuzaki ★ A simple, small, old ryokan in the countryside. I stayed one night, and without meals it cost 7,000 yen, though you could also order meals separately. Day use is listed at 500 yen (15:00 to 21:00). Very close by there are several very atmospheric temples, especially late in the evening, a museum with a straw dragon, a kombu shop, and a pond with little bridges. It is about a 10 to 20 minute walk to the eateries that stay open until late, which is nice for the countryside. They stamp the 60 onsen of Shizuoka 24/25 rally. Inside there is a small onsen. The water is clear, and the temperature is 43.5. It is comfortable to breathe. I originally took it just as a practical stopover place to sleep, since they were also stamping the rally here, and it was convenient timing on the way, and I needed somewhere to sleep anyway. But considering the surroundings and the places around it, I really liked it. I would be interested in coming back to the settlement itself and looking around at a more relaxed pace. 09.11.2024 10.11.2024
