Classification
Sodium Fluoride-Chloride spring
An alkaline simple thermal spring with very light mineralization (171 mg/kg of dissolved solids). At pH 9.3 the water sits firmly in Japan's beauty-water family, giving the characteristic slippery feel on the skin. The source emerges at 31.5 °C as a cold-mineral / low-temp spring, so the bath is reheated. Colorless, tasteless, and odorless — gentle and unobtrusive on the body.

644. Kobo-yu, Kushimoto, Wakayama ★★★
Top-tier single private infinity bath. Price depends on the number of visitors in the booking — 1200 for one, 2200 for 2, 3000 for 3, 3600 for 4, 4500 for 5. Operating hours from 10:00 to 17:00 (except Wed and Thu). Booking is available one month ahead on the official website and it's better to book in advance. Access details for the onsen need to be picked up closer to the booking time at a different building 5 minutes on foot from the onsen itself — the Hashigui ICO shop. They'll give you instructions and the lock code. They sell the 12 Onsen of Wakayama stamp book.
The onsen itself is a bit out of town. The facility and onsen are freshly renovated, with a chill zone.
The bath is semi-open, with an infinity view of the bay slightly through the trees. You can fill the bath with both hot and cold water. Clear water, morning starting temperature was 42.5. When you get into the bath when it's quite full, water starts overflowing and the infinity effect appears not just in the bath itself but literally everywhere on the floor.
Top-tier place. If visiting Kushimoto or Katsuura by train, a must-visit.
