The outdoor baths at Izu Kogen no Yu sit among natural woodland, with rocky pools spread through the greenery. Inside there is a large bath with jet jets, a sauna, and a cold bath. The facility is best known for its mud-pack corner: you apply the clay, then soak in one of the pools while it works. A free drinking-spring stand is set up near the entrance for guests who want to try the water that way. The rest area has a Japanese-modern feel and a relaxed, local crowd.
