Classification

Sodium spring

A sodium bicarbonate-chloride spring of the jūsō-sen family, served hot at 45.5 °C and weakly alkaline at pH 8.68. Bicarbonate dominance softens old skin keratin, leaving the slippery, polished feel that puts Ureshino squarely in Japan's beauty-water tradition. A modest chloride sub-type adds quiet heat retention without taking over the texture.

445. Ureshino Onsen Kotobukiya Ryokan, Ureshino Visited for higaeri for 5 Ureshino tickets. There's a big flag at the entrance reading "higaeri onsen." Higaeri listed from 15:00 to 23:00. They stamp the Ureshino 10 Onsen book. Two private baths for 2500 and 4000 yen (didn't try them). The ryokan serves as a base for a group of performers who do traditional Japanese shows — their photos and performance posters are displayed throughout the ryokan. There are also various extra events including their performances and guest experiences with kimono dressing. Despite all this, overnight rates are very affordable. Inside there's an old-style stone bath. Clear water, temperature 41, without the soapy feel. Air inside is tolerable. The place looks very interesting — it immediately made me want to stay here, learn more about the performers, and watch a show. 03/30/2025
