The hotel draws its water from its own spring in Miyanoshita (宮ノ下温泉, Miyanoshita Onsen) and runs it fresh through every bath as kakenagashi (源泉掛け流し). The water leaves skin noticeably smooth. All guests can use the large indoor baths (with sauna) and three free private semi-open-air baths, Botan (牡丹), Ruri (瑠璃), and Susutake (煤竹), on a drop-in basis without a reservation. Rooms in the suite category add private in-room baths in granite or hinoki (檜, Japanese cypress), some with a semi-open-air aspect and views of the mountains and river. The hotel collects Japanese paintings and antique European furniture, and live piano plays in the lobby on Saturday afternoons.
