About

Men's and women's baths each pair an indoor hall with an open-air rotenburo, fed by kakenagashi water from Kannon-no-yu (観音の湯), a self-gushing spring you can see bubbling up in a tub right by the front entrance. The water is clear and said to leave skin smooth. The inn calls itself hottarakashi (放ったらかし), meaning left alone, and it deliberately skips the fuss of a typical Japanese ryokan. There is no restaurant; guests eat out nearby, bring their own food, or grab a frozen bento from the in-house shop. The same self-service spirit shows up in small extras, like boiling your own onsen egg in the spring water or grilling dango over a charcoal brazier in the lobby. It was rebranded in 2025 from the ryokan Shiobara Onsen Yashiogo (塩原温泉 八汐荘), and now runs as part of Iconia Hospitality's self-service Yu-furi brand, on a quiet hillside above Shiobara.
