772. Kashiwaya, Kawaji Onsen, Tochigi (pt.3) ★★★ About the onsen: 1. Outdoor area. 1.2. Rectangular bath behind a frosted glass fence. The water is clear, temperature 35. 1.3. Sauna. 2. Indoor bath. The water is clear, temperature 41. There are two utaseyu, but only one was working. 10.01.2026 11.01.2026

772. Kashiwaya, Kawaji Onsen, Tochigi (pt.2) ★★★ About the onsen: 1. Outdoor area. Great view of the mountains, river, bridge, and passing trains (there is a timetable posted). There are a few trees in front of the rotenburo that are not in the old photos, but they do not really detract from the experience. 1.1. Main large stone bath. The water is clear, temperature 40. 10.01.2026 11.01.2026

772. Kashiwaya, Kawaji Onsen, Tochigi (pt.1) ★★★ A ryokan with a really great view of the bridges and the river. According to the schedule, you can see trains passing by. I stayed overnight. I had half board, breakfast and dinner, and the meals were served in a separate room, the food itself was all good. No day-use bathing. No bath rotation between men and women. There are private baths, I did not use them. The staff were Japanese, with very little English, but the service was all decent. The rotenburo is really great, and for train fans it is especially appealing. If staying in Kawaji or Kinugawa, this is one of the top options to choose, in my opinion. 10.01.2026 11.01.2026
