Hoshikawa is a small inn a short walk from Kusatsu's Yubatake, rebuilt and reopened in late 2024. There is no shared or gender-split bathroom here: three private baths are booked one party at a time, two older-style indoor tubs and a newer tub-shaped one. The water is Kusatsu's own spring, hot and sharply acidic, kept flowing fresh, the kind said to leave skin smooth, though more than one guest has found it almost too hot to sit in. With just four guest rooms the inn stays quiet, and the couple who run it are often praised for looking after guests personally, serving dinner and breakfast in the dining room or in your own room.
