Kasuien Minami sits in Tamatsukuri Onsen (玉造温泉), a spring with roots going back around 1,300 years and a place long called Kami-no-yu (神の湯, "water of the gods") for its skin-softening qualities. The ryokan is a branch of Minamikan, a Matsue inn founded in 1888. Three separate communal bath areas cover the stay: the women's Ukifune (浮舟) and men's Ukidono (浮殿), each with indoor and outdoor rock baths, and the top-floor Tenyu no Yu (天遊の湯), which has open-air baths on both sides looking out over the town and surrounding hills. Some rooms come with their own kakenagashi (源泉かけ流し) in-room baths. A foot bath and hand bath garden is open on the grounds as well.
