Every one of Kirara's nine rooms has its own semi-open-air bath, fed straight from the source spring in kakenagashi (掛け流し) style, and the water is gentle on the skin. Mt. Yufu fills the view from every room, its look changing through the seasons, and there's also a separate paid private bath if you want a soak away from your room. The ryokan sits on a quiet hill above Yufuin, near enough to town but far enough to stay calm, and dinner is a seasonal kaiseki built around Bungo Channel seafood and Oita's mountain vegetables. Guests twelve and under aren't accepted, so it stays a quiet, adults-focused stay.
