RAKO Hananoi Hotel is a large hotel above Lake Suwa in Kamisuwa Onsen, with an indoor bathing hall of thirteen themed baths and a rooftop open-air bath looking out over the lake. The water itself is colorless and mild, gentle on the skin. Among the themed tubs are a bath infused with local sake, herbal baths, and baths built with stones from notable local spots, including black obsidian and a stone from a site known for its unusual energy field. There's also a dry sauna and two reservation-only private baths for overnight guests. The men's and women's bathing halls swap on a schedule, so the baths look different from one night to the next. Reviews mention the building's age, but the lake view from the open-air bath is what people remember most.
