KYOU calls itself a hideaway: a budget, stay-only inn in Akiu Onsen built around plain single rooms rather than baths or meals. The one shared bath, on the ground floor and split into men's and women's sides, is small but runs on real spring water piped in from Denshou Sennen no Yado Sakan (伝承千年の宿 佐勘), a nearby ryokan. The water is salty and warming, the kind locals say keeps you from cooling down after you get out and is good for the skin. There's no rotenburo, no sauna, and no private bath, just the one tub, plus shower booths open around the clock. Everything else here leans more hostel than ryokan: a bar lounge, a small library, and a terrace for an evening beer, plus free bicycles and a shuttle bus (via the Sakan ryokan) into Sendai. Check-in is self-service and there's no restaurant, so it suits people who want a cheap, clean base near the hot spring rather than a full ryokan stay.
