About

Jusangatsu (十三月) is the contemporary annex of Fujisan Ryokan, a spring that has been flowing for over 600 years in Namari Onsen, Hanamaki. Every guest suite has a private open-air bath on its deck, fed by kakenagashi spring water with no recirculation or dilution. Guests can also walk through an indoor corridor to use all four communal baths at the main ryokan, including Shirosarunoyu (白猿の湯), a standing-depth artesian bath with a long history and mixed bathing (with designated women-only hours). Outdoors at the main building, Katsurayu (桂の湯) has open-air baths looking down over the river, and Shiragitono-yu (白糸の湯) faces a small waterfall. The annex building is styled around designer furniture and a modern aesthetic, a deliberate contrast to the historic all-zelkova main building, which was registered as a national tangible cultural property in 2026.
