Uses natural hot spring water
Open-air outdoor bath
Enclosed indoor bathing area
Dry heat sauna room
Private bath available for day-use visitors or hotel guests to reserve
Site states ¥1,890/50min for overnight guests; a day-use aggregator (intellect.co.jp) separately lists a private room at ¥2,000/hour for day visitors -- likely a different day-use rate, not a contradiction.
Private onsen bath in guest rooms, for overnight guests only
Room listings mention only in-room toilets, no in-room baths; corroborated by a 2026 Google review noting rooms have only a toilet and washstand.
Shared bathing area for all genders
Allows entry with visible tattoos
Sourced from a single 2019 Google review; not confirmed on the official site or current day-use aggregators, and may be outdated. Reviewer suggests groups with tattoos may be refused.
Welcomes children and families
Free kids' play room; the indoor play equipment specifically is limited to ages 2-6 and requires guardian supervision.
Shower, wash stations, soap and shampoo provided
Towels available to rent or borrow
Day-use towels are sold (¥100), not rented.
Relaxation space for after bathing
On-site or nearby parking available
Rakuten Travel separately states 30 free spaces; both agree parking is free, capacity count differs slightly.
Otonashi no Mori Ryokufuen is a small riverside ryokan in Ito, set in the Otonashi forest along the Matsukawa river. The outdoor baths are split by gender and carry names tied to local history, Yoritomo-no-yu (頼朝の湯) for men and Yaehime-no-yu (八重姫の湯) for women, both fed by the ryokan's own hot spring and kept flowing fresh rather than recirculated. There's also a private open-air bath right along the river, reservable by phone, plus an indoor bath and a sauna. The inn is plain and old-fashioned rather than polished, the kind of place regulars return to for the quiet forest setting more than for luxury. It also has a free kids' play room, and the official site notes it was once used as a filming location for the TV show Terrace House.
