Gentle simple thermal water, drawn from Gero Onsen's centrally managed blended source and piped from the Koda pump station. At pH 9.4 it is alkaline enough to give the slippery, soap-like feel that puts it squarely in Japan's beauty-water family. The water is lightly mineralized — 353.9 mg/kg of dissolved solids — but carries 66.7 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, enough silica to leave skin noticeably smooth. Its spring-type indications are the less common ones: autonomic nervous system instability, insomnia and depressed mood, alongside the usual list for chronic muscle and joint pain. The bath is served with no dilution and no reheating, but a recirculation system runs year-round and chlorine is used for hygiene.
