About

Yamadaya is a small ryokan in Ito with only four detached cottages set around a garden. Each cottage has its own indoor bath, filled with hot spring water that's kept flowing fresh rather than recirculated, and it's yours to use any time of day. The water is a clear, faintly salty spring. Dinner is a seasonal kaiseki course served in your room, not in a shared dining hall. The building itself is old and has been kept close to its original form, and a small stream runs through the garden past the rooms. It's just a few minutes from Ito Station, but past guests say the grounds feel as quiet as somewhere deep in the mountains.
