Hotel Koyokan is one of three connected hotels that make up the Hanamaki Onsen (花巻温泉) resort, and its own bath is Koyo no Yu (紅葉の湯): an indoor room, an open-air bath set among rocks, a sauna, a cold plunge, and two small pot-shaped tsubo-yu (壺湯) tubs on each side. The water has no strong smell and feels mild rather than sharp on the skin. The building is older, but guests describe the atmosphere as calm and well kept rather than dated, and rooms look out toward the surrounding mountains.
