Water drawn from the No. 1 distribution station in Dogo Yunomachi, Matsuyama — a gentle simple thermal spring, lightly mineralized and easy on the body. Its alkalinity gives the slippery beauty-water feel, reinforced by a generous helping of metasilicic acid that leaves a thin silica film for noticeably smoother skin. The posted analysis lists autonomic nervous system instability, insomnia and depressed mood among its indications, alongside the usual chronic aches and fatigue recovery. The bath is disinfected with a chlorine-based agent to meet Matsuyama's public bathhouse hygiene standard; no dilution, reheating or recirculation is declared.

Dogo's newest external bath, opened in 2017 next to Tsubaki-no-Yu. Asuka-no-Yu (飛鳥乃湯泉) is built in the style of an Asuka-period bath house and themed around the legends of ancient Dogo, with interiors that pair Ehime's traditional crafts with contemporary art. There is an open-air bath, large tatami rest halls, and private rooms including a recreation of the imperial Yushinden (又新殿). Like the Honkan, it pours unheated, undiluted source water.

738. Dogo Onsen Annex Asuka-no-Yu, Matsuyama ★★ An annex building of Dogo Onsen. It does not look as epic as the main building, but it is still beautiful. In the evening, lanterns were set out in front of the entrance, which added to the beauty and cozy atmosphere. They sell Dogo Onsen goyuin for the annex building. They also stamp the Dogo Onsen yumeguri stamp. There are several ticket types with different options, the main ones are: - ¥610 for access to the public onsen (06:00~23:00); - ¥1280 for access to the public onsen and tea in the shared lounge on the second floor (06:00~22:00); - ¥1690 for access to the public onsen and tea in a private room on the second floor (06:00~22:00); - ¥2040 + ¥1690 per adult for access to the public onsen, tea, and a private onsen (06:00~22:00). I took the ¥610 ticket. 1. Indoor public bath. It looks like a grandpa's bath in perfect condition. The room is spacious, but the bath itself is small. The super cool feature was that at one point, an animation about the history of Dogo Onsen, a stork, and Japanese text started playing on the tiles via a projector. It looked really cool and unexpected. The water is clear, temperature 42.5. It is fine to breathe inside. 2. Outdoor public bath. In practice, it is almost an enclosed space outdoors. The water is clear, temperature 43. The building and baths are simpler than in the main building, but the projector animation on the tiles in the indoor bath really stood out. It fit the place very well, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Recommended for a visit. 06.01.2026
