ゆふいん旅庵 和山豊

All twelve rooms at Wazanho (和山豊) are detached, old-style cottages, and each one has its own indoor bath plus a private outdoor bath. Both draw from the ryokan's own spring and are kept flowing rather than recirculated (kakenagashi), and the water is smooth on the skin. Guests can also use a shared bath, a rough-stone open-air pool set among the trees, with the men's side called Kichiroku (吉四六) and the women's Ohema (おへま). A stream is audible nearby, and on clear nights you can see a sky full of stars. The building itself is in an old farmhouse style, on quiet grounds outside central Yufuin, and dinner is a seasonal kaiseki course built around local vegetables grown without pesticides.
