Hashinoya Bekkan Ransui is a small ryokan in Arima Onsen with nine rooms. The baths are in their own building in the garden, and the bathroom looks out on the Takigawa river. The tubs are made of hinoki (檜) and maki (槙), and there is an open-air bath filled with Arima's rust-brown kinsen (金泉) water. On some days the bath is used as a private one. Kajika frogs call from the river, and the garden turns green in spring and red in autumn. The building was a villa put up in the Meiji era by a man from Kaga who had made his money in coastal shipping, later taken over and converted into a ryokan, so every room has its own character. Day visitors can come for a lunch or dinner plan with bathing, by reservation, and the meal is served in a guest room. There is no bath-only entry.
