The shared baths mix an indoor section with an outdoor rotenburo, filled with mildly salty onsen water, and the men's and women's sides swap between morning and evening. There's no sauna and no private baths, though towels can be rented if you come without one. Day-use bathing is walk-in, and you can also book a bathing-plus-dinner-buffet plan if you want to eat here too. It's part of the Oedo Onsen Monogatari (大江戸温泉物語) hotel chain, a short walk from Atami Station and the beach. It has a rest lounge for cooling down after the bath, with free drinks and ice pops, and some rooms look out over the sea.

Rarely do I want to rage after visiting an onsen, but this is that case. Our lot: Oedo Onsen Monogatari Atami Cost 2100 yen + 250 yen for a towel. For that money we get: 1. A rotenburo with a small window offering a sea view if you stand in the bath. If you sit, you only see the fence. 2. A rotenburo that's basically "a room without a ceiling with a fence on three sides." 3. An indoor bath. The temperature in all three baths is equally hot, can't sit in them for long. No sauna. Feel like throwing the rental towel at them. Give me my money back. At least half.
