About

The top floor holds an open-air bath and a large indoor bath, both looking out toward the Haruna and Akagi mountains. The water is Ikaho's Shirogane-no-yu (白銀の湯), a clear, colorless spring known locally as bijin no yu (美人の湯), "beauty water". These main baths are split by gender, with a third bath, Tsubaki no Yu (椿の湯), added in 2023 that swaps from women in the evening to men in the early morning. Four private baths can be booked by the hour, from a roomy family-sized tub to smaller ones for two, including a round stone bath and one that looks out over Ikaho's night view. Day-trip visitors can reserve the private baths too, in a short midday slot. Sakurai is a mid-size ryokan with a lounge and coffee corner for settling in on arrival, and some rooms come with their own in-room onsen tub (a soaking bath, not open-air).

787. Sakurai Ryokan, Ikaho Onsen, Gunma ★ I went for a day-use visit and used a private bath for ¥3300. I was not allowed into the public onsen for day-use. Day-use is listed as 12:00 to 15:00. They issue Toreco cards for the onsen. Private bath. You can open the large window, and it gets very fresh. The water is clear, and the temperature is 41.5. A pleasant place, I’d be interested in trying their rotenburo. 12.01.2026
