Yufuryochiku

Yufuryochiku is a small, seven-room ryokan on Yufuin's busy Yunotsubo-kaido (湯の坪街道), built around a house that's nearly a century old, dating to the Taisho era. There's no large communal bath here: instead four reservable baths, two open-air and two indoor, draw kakenagashi (掛け流し) water straight from the inn's own spring, free for any guest to slip into at any hour. The water itself is soft and mild, easy on the skin rather than sharp or mineral-heavy. Step past the shopfronts on the street and the old wood and tatami inside settle into something quiet and unhurried, with an irori fireside corner in the lobby for a drink after bathing.
