This lakeside pension sits right on the edge of Kinrinko, Yufuin's misty little lake, and its indoor bath looks out over the water, while the open-air bath faces the garden and hills. The men's and women's sides trade off between morning and evening, so an overnight stay lets you try both; one has a small rock-lined tub with a waterfall pour (utaseyu, 打たせ湯). The spring water comes straight from the source and is kept flowing fresh (kakenagashi, 掛け流し), with a faint trace of sulfur in the air. It's a small, family-run pension on the lake since 1986, closer to a homely auberge than a formal ryokan. Rooms are Japanese or Western style, all facing Kinrinko: mornings bring the sun off the water, and the lakeside nights stay quiet. The inn runs its own restaurant, Yotosha (洋灯舎), serving French-leaning Western food with lake views from the counter seats, open to non-guests by reservation too.
