691. Isaribi-no-Yado Seaside Kancho, Wakayama (pt.1) ★ A modern quality ryokan. Stayed overnight. Higaeri is available for 1540 from 11:00 to 14:30. Booking was for two only, made without meals, but I later added food for one through the contact form on the website. The food was kaiseki in a private room at the restaurant (tasty, slightly above average) + you could order from the menu (abalone was very delicious). Ocean and bridge views from windows and various spots; very pleasant lounge. Japanese staff, very good service. There's a private bath (didn't use it). There is a gender rotation for baths. Among the places I researched in Wakayama City and had visited at the time, this ryokan is the most "ryokan-like" in Wakayama City - good service, very comfortable inside. The rating would be higher if the onsens were stronger - the bath quality is below the level of the establishment itself. 12.11.2025 13.11.2025
