About

Pension Asanebou is a small, family-run lodge on the edge of Minakami, with one outdoor bath and two indoor baths filled with clear, faintly alkaline Tanigawa Onsen water. All three are private, used by one party at a time, and open to guests to use whenever they like during their stay, no booking needed. The outdoor bath changes with the seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, green mountains in summer, foliage in autumn, snow in winter. Guest rooms have only a washbasin and toilet, so bathing means stepping out to one of the shared private baths. The place has a cottage-like feel that guests often compare to the English countryside, and two golden retrievers greet arrivals at the door.
