Hananomai has a communal bath split into men's and women's sides, plus a reservation-free private bath, one indoor and one outdoor, that guests use whenever they're free. The spring water is clear and kept flowing fresh rather than recirculated. Detached rooms come with an outdoor bath carved into a single block of stone, and a few rooms in the main building have their own indoor bath. The ryokan sits a little off Yufuin's busy main street, quiet and calm, with a short walk into the town center, and from some rooms you can see Mt. Yufu.
