Onsen Minshuku Kikumoto is a small, family-run inn right on the beach at Senami Onsen, on the Niigata coast. The men's and women's baths are separate, one room each, and the spring water runs straight through with no added water or heating; it's salty and stays properly hot, the kind that keeps you warm long after you dry off. The inn is built around simple pleasures: a soak before dinner, a room that looks straight out over the Sea of Japan, and the sunset that turns everything gold as it sinks toward the horizon.
