About

The hotel's baths spread across three named areas. Komakusa no Yu, the main outdoor bath, has five pools (two for men, two for women, one mixed), the roofed Shakunage no Yu is women-only, and Nanakamado no Yu is indoor bathing for men and women. Every tub on the property runs straight from the spring, kakenagashi, and the water comes out milky white with sulfur. Mixed bathing is done in a bathing garment (yuamigi, 湯あみ着), and there's a private bath you can book for 45 minutes if you'd rather soak alone. One of the outdoor pools reportedly runs cooler than the rest, good for a long soak. At 1,800 meters this is the highest hot spring in Japan reachable by car year round, and the hotel calls itself the onsen closest to the stars. The outdoor baths look out over a wide sweep of mountains, with clear starry skies on a good night.

813. Manza Prince Hotel, Manza Onsen, Gunma ★★★ I used a duplicate booking. There is a private bath (I did not use it). There is day use. With the Manza tegata, it is ¥500, the regular price is ¥1,500. Day use is listed as 10:00 to 16:00 (last entry at 15:00). Staying at Manza Prince Hotel gives free day use for the mixed bathing area at Manza Kogen Hotel. In turn, staying at Manza Kogen Hotel should give free reciprocal day use at Manza Prince Hotel. 1. Outdoor mixed bathing area. They provide and require clothing. Direct view of the mountains and forest. 1.1. Right stone bath. The water is clear turquoise, with a lot of lime. Temperature is 38. 1.2. Center stone bath. The water is clear turquoise, with a lot of lime. Temperature is 43. 1.3. Left stone bath. The water is clear turquoise, with a lot of lime. Temperature is 42. 2. Indoor men's stone bath. The water is clear turquoise, with a lot of lime. Temperature is 42.5. Breathing inside is comfortable. A top mixed onsen with a mountain view and great acidic water. A wonderful onsen experience. 15.01.2026 16.01.2026

A sibling of the well-known higaeri spot Manza Kogen Hotel 万座高原ホテル. Got a discount on Booking and free shuttle from Karuizawa. There's a ski resort nearby and a stamp rally with a surprise Konosuba collab. If you stay here, you can go to the onsen at Manza Kogen Hotel 万座高原ホテル for free. A bus runs every hour between the hotels, which are 150 meters apart. About the onsens: men have 2 baths — one at 37 and one hot at 40-41. There's a mixed bath. Women have 2 onsens (2 changing rooms). One bath is separate in one onsen area. The second onsen has 2 baths plus access to the mixed zone. In the mixed zone you either need to cover up with towels or buy shorts or a bathing dress. A fun detail: there's no wall between the mixed zone and the men's baths, so men always have to cover up with towels. But between the mixed zone and the women's section there is a wall. The highlight is the view from the baths of snowy mountains like in the 2nd photo. 3rd photo is from Manza Kogen Hotel 万座高原ホテル. Frog at Manza-Kazawaguchi Station 万座・鹿沢口駅. The hotel.
