About

Senami Hamanasu-so is a ryokan at Senami Onsen where every room faces the Sea of Japan. The large bathhouse and its open-air bath, one each for men and women, share that view, with Sado Island and Awashima sometimes visible out at sea, and there's a foot bath by the entrance for a quick soak without changing. Six rooms come with their own open-air tub, and two special rooms have a private indoor onsen bath. The spring itself is a salty chloride water that comes up hot and plentiful. The onsen was found by accident in 1904, when hot water gushed out during oil drilling; locals still call it atsu-no-yu (熱の湯), the hot-water spring, for how high the temperature runs. Bathing alone, without staying the night, is welcome too.
