KAMENOI HOTEL IZUKOGEN 亀の井ホテル 伊豆高原 We stayed in Izu at Kamenoi Izukogen. We had not stayed at other hotels in this chain before. This Kamenoi has been recently renovated, the hotel itself is not new, but the interior has recently been brought up to a modern look. All rooms face the ocean. The onsen consists of two baths, one indoors and one outdoors, and they alternate by day. The indoor bath has a nice view of blooming sakura. The water in the rotenburo is hot, while indoors it is relatively comfortable, not that hot. It is easy to breathe indoors. There were few people. There are private baths that need to be booked separately, and they cost ¥4 400 per hour. The staff at the hotel are Japanese, the service is at a good level, and most of the guests are Japanese as well. Free shuttle service to and from Izu-Kogen Station. Consistently good and varied kaiseki for all three evenings, not outstanding, but high quality and fresh. A very varied and generous breakfast buffet. The best breakfasts of the whole trip. Free drinks, including alcohol in the evening, in the lobby, and later at night there is free late-night food in the form of noodles with different flavors.
