We stayed at Kamenoi Izukogen in Izu. We hadn't been to other hotels in this chain before. This Kamenoi was recently renovated; the hotel itself is not new, but the interior was updated to a modern style recently. All rooms face the ocean. The onsen consists of two baths - indoor and outdoor, alternating by day. The indoor bath offers a beautiful view of blooming cherry blossoms. The water in the rotenburo (outdoor bath) is hot, while the indoor bath is relatively moderate in temperature, not too hot. The air inside is comfortable to breathe. There were few people. There are private baths that need to be reserved separately, costing 4400 yen per hour. The hotel staff are Japanese, and the service is good; most guests are also Japanese. There is a free shuttle to and from Izu-Kogen station. The kaiseki meals over the three evenings were confidently good and varied, not outstanding but of good quality and fresh. The breakfast buffet was very diverse and abundant, the best breakfasts of the entire trip. Free drinks (including alcohol in the evening) are available in the lobby, and later at night there is free late-night noodles with various flavors.
