This hillside ryokan above Ikaho has three private open-air baths that are free to use any time, no reservation needed. There are also two large indoor baths for men and women that swap sides at night. The spring, known locally as Shirogane-no-yu (白銀の湯), runs clear and feels gentle on the skin; only the Mokuren-category rooms have their own semi-open-air bath fed straight from it. It's an older 24-room ryokan with a nostalgic, worn-in lobby, and rooms look out over Mount Akagi, the Tanigawa range and, on clear days, the mountains of Nikko. Dinner is served in private rooms built around seasonal ingredients from the Joshu area.
