塔之沢温泉(湯本第58・75・87号混合泉)

Tonosawa Onsen (Yumoto wells No. 58/75/87 blend)

Operated by · 箱根湯寮

Mixed source

Simple

A gentle alkaline simple thermal spring blended from the Yumoto No. 58, 75 and 87 wells at Tonosawa. Its high pH gives the slippery feel of the Japanese beauty-water family, soft on the skin. Mineralization is light, but a respectable 69 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves a thin silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards.

About

Hakone Yuryo draws its water from Tonosawa (塔之沢) hot spring, one of the seven traditional Hakone spring areas, and the water is smooth and lightly alkaline. The main hall covers indoor baths, open-air rock baths with views into the surrounding forest, a cold-water pool, and a sauna with daily loyly sessions. For groups wanting privacy, the separate annexe has private open-air rooms (kashikiri rotenburo, 貸切露天風呂) bookable by the hour. The whole place is day-use only, no overnight stays. A free shuttle runs from Hakone-Yumoto Station, and tattooed guests have been welcome since April 2025.

188. Hakone Yuryo Onsen complex / super sento in Hakone. Admission 2000. Private baths are available (didn't take them). There's a good dining area, massage, chill zones, and a souvenir shop. A shuttle bus runs to Hakone-yumoto station. Baths (photos of the baths are from the official website, they match): 1. Large indoor bath with bubbles and jets. Clear water, warm, with a chlorine smell. 2. Large outdoor stone bath. Clear water, hot temperature. 3. Small outdoor stone bath, slightly down some stairs. Clear water, hot temperature. 4. Rectangular outdoor bath with a pleasant tree view. Clear water, hot temperature. 5. Two barrels (didn't get in them). 6. Sauna. 7. Cold bath. Solid establishment. In competition among onsens of this type, it loses to Tenzan in Hakone, but if you need an alternative — this place works well.
