206. Yokikan Hotel, Ito (pt.2 - indoor baths) The indoor baths switch between M/F at 20:30. Located on the main floor (where the reception is). The water differs from the outdoor bath. 1. Small indoor bath - water is clear, temperature is hot, breathing is fine. The changing room has AC, which is especially nice in summer. 2. Large indoor bath - water is clear, temperature is hot, breathing is fine. The room and the bath itself are more spacious, with a tinted window. A good ryokan in Ito. An excellent option in terms of price/quality/onsen/funicular novelty/transport accessibility from Tokyo. Plus you can join the flashmob of visitors from Russia. According to respected colleagues, this ryokan is also noted in the Japanese part of the internet.
206. Yokikan Hotel, Ito (pt.1 - general info and outdoor bath) A ryokan with a funicular, recommended by Wren since 2016. Stayed overnight; the price for one person in July, Saturday to Sunday, including breakfast and dinner, was 20k yen on Booking. The food is kaiseki - nothing super fancy, but good; a grandma brings it to your room. Located a tolerable distance from the station, walkable if you want, and there are several higaeri onsens nearby. I was greeted by a guy who speaks really good English. Thanks to Wren's recommendations, this ryokan in Ito has become very popular with Russian tourists, which the hotel staff have noticed and seem a bit puzzled by the flashmob effect. The attitude and service were very warm and pleasant. The ryokan has a nice info desk with brochures about places to visit on the Izu peninsula with tour purposes. The main bath of the ryokan became the prototype for a bath in an anime - the ryokan had a small display, a poster, and a screenshot from the anime itself. Outdoor bath. It's really up on a hill and you can take the funicular up (you can also walk up and down the stairs), and it's truly a unique feature for a ryokan of this type. The funicular closes from 22:30 to 06:00. The bath is shared for M/F, so there's a separate schedule for access times (given in a booklet at check-in + duplicated on several signs near the bath). A stone bath with a view of the city. There's a small waterfall inside the bath. At night, an electric insect trap was running. Water is clear, temperature is hot.
