Classification

Sodium Chloride spring

Tenjin Gensen — one of the wellheads that feeds Kin no Yu in Arima. A sodium-chloride hypersaline spring: at roughly 36 g/kg dissolved solids it exceeds ocean salinity and leaves a thick mineral coating on the skin. The wellhead emerges at 99.4 °C, putting it among Japan's hottest natural sources; its iron content oxidizes reddish-brown on air contact, which is what gives Arima's celebrated 'kinsen' (gold water) its colour. A respectable 121 mg/kg of metasilicic acid adds a layer of silica smoothness beneath the salt.

347. Kin no Yu Hot Springs, Arima Onsen A public onsen in Arima for 800 yen (or 1200 for a combo ticket for Kin no Yu + Gin no Yu). Operating hours are listed as 08:00 to 22:00 (closed every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month). Some jazz music or radio was playing inside. 1. Bath with cloudy brown water, temperature around 42. 2. Bath with cloudy brown water, temperature around 44. 3. Bath with clear water, temperature around 39-40. The onsen has an old-school format, but there's music playing from a radio and lots of tourists. The atmosphere doesn't work at all. Recommended to skip.
