Hotel Shougetsu has been on the shore of Kinko Bay in Ibusuki since 1917. The communal bath hall has a large open-air section and a sauna, with the men's and women's sides swapping on a rotation schedule. Some guest rooms come with their own private open-air bath overlooking the bay, with spring water flowing fresh without recirculation. The hotel also runs a shuttle to the nearby Saraku (砂楽) sand baths, the buried-in-hot-sand soak that Ibusuki is known for.
