One of the lively ryokan in the town of Ashinomaki, where nature is gradually reclaiming a cluster of abandoned establishments above a mountain gorge, in front of the river. The ryokan itself is in decent condition, but nothing luxurious. The main draw here is the view of the gorge, and the bath in front of it, with a view of the river. Very natural, beautiful, and relaxing. Baths: a warm rotenburo (40), an indoor hot bath in wood (42), all kakenagashi. The water is soft, sulfate-rich. The food is fine for this price range, nothing fancy, but tasty. The rooms are ordinary, clean, but the VIEW.
