Hotel Shikokuya is a small, old-fashioned hotel in Oshamanbe, a hot-spring town on Hokkaido's southern coast. The indoor bath draws straight from the local spring, split across a hotter tub and a cooler one fed by its overflow, so you move between temperatures rather than adjust one. There is no open-air bath, but a private family bath can be reserved in advance, and the water is said to leave your skin smooth afterward. Day-use bathing is open to anyone passing through, not just overnight guests, and the hotel itself keeps an old, Showa-era feel rather than a modern one.
