About
Seki-no-yu is a single-tub communal bathhouse up a narrow slope in the quiet onsen town of Sekigane. The tub is small, wooden, and fits only two or three people at once, more like a large home bath than a full sento. There is no shower or tap to rinse at, so bring your own soap, and hot water keeps overflowing over the rim rather than sitting still. It has been open since 1903 and is still a neighborhood fixture, used daily by the people of Sekigane rather than by passing tourists.
