Day visitors can reserve the private family bath, but must also pay the regular day-bathing charge on top of the booking fee. There is only one such bath, so reserving ahead is recommended.

Noboribetsu Grand Hotel splits its bathing into two wings, Hozukinoyu (鬼灯の湯) and Rindounoyu (竜胆の湯), that swap by gender each day. Both sides have a domed indoor bathhouse where sulfur, salty and iron-tinted water fill separate tubs, plus a garden open-air area with a rock bath and a hinoki wood tub, one of them by a small waterfall. Between the two sides there are three named saunas, including the signature Oni-sauna kept close to 110°C with automatic steam bursts, plus a lineup of cold plunges fed by mountain stream water: a hinoki wood tub, a kettle-shaped tub and a giant barrel tub that opens only in the warmer months and not to young children. A private, salty-water family bath can be booked separately, day visitors included, though there is only the one on site. It's a large resort hotel with several restaurants and buffet-style meals, and sauna fans come back for another overnight just for the bathhouse.
