Water profile

Yamazato-no-iori Soene

Spring chemistry and what it does, with the research behind it.

湯SimpleSodium Bicarbonate spring

A blend of three wells — Mitsui Kinzoku No.1, Kannon and Tenyu — sampled not at a wellhead but at the mixing-tank outlet, after dilution. Bicarbonate accounts for 81% of the anions, yet with only 0.86 g/kg of dissolved solids the certificate files it as a simple thermal spring, hypotonic and neutral at pH 6.4. It leaves the ground at 67.7 °C, among Japan's hotter natural sources, faintly yellow and clear with pale yellow-white flecks drifting in it. Metasilicic acid at 153 mg/kg is generous enough to leave the thin silica film that puts this water in Japan's beauty-water family.

Good for

Aches & joints

Warmth eases stiffness and raises the pain threshold. Radon and sulfate springs show the strongest evidence for joint and muscle pain.

stiff shoulders

Smooth skin

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.

dry, rough skin

Recovery

Warmth and buoyancy lower stress markers and improve sleep; habitual bathing is linked to lower rates of depression.

fatigue, stress
