About
Yumotokan is a small minshuku bathhouse built around a rare hot spring: dark, plant-derived moru-sen (モール泉) water that's kept flowing straight from the source. There are two indoor baths, gender separated, one enlarged not long after the inn opened and a second added years later. Guest rooms in the main building share these baths, while two onsen-equipped cottages on the property each have their own tub. Day-trippers can stop in to bathe as well. A previous generation of the family found the source themselves, noticing snow melting early on a nearby slope one spring; they dug down, struck water, and opened the inn in the 1970s. The building is old but well kept, plain rather than polished, with rooms that feel spacious for a minshuku.
